Emergency Medical Services

Our highly trained emergency medical teams provide critical care on scene, ensuring that every resident has access to fast, effective treatment during urgent medical situations.

Emergency Command Center

ECC personnel receive 911 requests for service, dispatch fire and EMS resources, coordinate field operations, and support incidents ranging from everyday emergencies to large scale disasters ensuring timely response and effective regional coordination.

Community Risk Reduction

OCFA’s Community Risk Reduction (CRR) department focuses on fire prevention, education, and safety through plan review, inspections, code enforcement, and community outreach. Their proactive efforts help reduce risks and protect lives before emergencies happen.

We had fun recreating a throwback photo featuring one of the many father-son duos who proudly serve at OCFA.

Firefighters stopped a vegetation fire at 1/8 acre on the 73 Toll Road at Newport Coast Drive in @City_of_Irvine just after 9 p.m. Thank you @NewportBeachFD, @IrvinePolice, and @CHPSantaAna for the assistance.

Firefighters held the fire to just 1.6 acres. No structures were damaged. One firefighter sustained minor injuries. Fire is under investigation. Thank you to @OrangeCityFire, @AnaheimFire, and @ClevelandNF for the teamwork.

OCFA and @OrangeCityFire are in Unified Command. Firefighters have stopped forward progress at approximately one acre. Please avoid both the Northbound 241 and Santiago Canyon Road in this area.

Firefighters are on scene of a vegetation fire at the 241 Toll Road near Santiago Canyon Road that was reported at 2:03 p.m.

Please avoid the area to allow us to work safely.

Quick Knockdown Prevents Further Damage in Garden Grove

This morning, crews responded to a fire at a single-story home in Garden Grove. Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze and prevented it from extending to two detached units located behind the home. >>>

Early notification played an important role in this incident. Multiple neighbors called 911 after spotting the fire, allowing crews to arrive quickly and make a difference. Cause is under investigation. 2 adults taken to the hospital in stable condition. 11,000 block - Morgan Ln.

Westminster Structure Fire

Earlier this evening, crews responded to multiple reports of a structure fire in Westminster. Many callers reported seeing a large column of smoke from the freeway.

When Engine 66 arrived, they found a two-story home with a patio cover on fire, >>>

with flames already extending into the residence. Crews quickly deployed hose lines and coordinated an aggressive attack on both the exterior patio fire and the interior of the home.

The quick knockdown stopped the fire’s spread, saving a majority of the home. No injuries.

On Saturday, June 13, OCFA Air Ops had the honor of flying over Angels Stadium during the National Anthem for Firefighter Appreciation Night. We were proud to attend alongside our fellow first responders. ⚾🚁

Today, June 14, we recognize Flag Day, commemorating the day the Continental Congress adopted the design of the United States flag in 1777. The American flag proudly flies outside each OCFA fire station.

Early Morning House Fire in Santa Ana

Just after 5:00 a.m. this morning, OCFA firefighters arrived to find a single-story home with a garage fire that had already extended into the attic and living space. The neighboring home was also threatened by the rapidly spreading flames.>

Firefighters quickly deployed multiple hose lines and aggressively attacked the fire, stopping its spread and preventing damage to the adjacent residence. The rapid knockdown prevented further fire extension, allowing a significant portion of the home to be saved.

Wildfire Season Outlook

Today, Chief McGovern joined leaders from @CAL_FIRE, @LACoFDPIO, @LAFD, @VCFD , and the U.S. Forest Service to discuss this year’s wildfire season outlook and the >>>

ongoing threat of wildfires across Southern California.

The chiefs highlighted the importance of preparedness at both the household and community levels, sharing steps residents can take to reduce risk and stay safe. They also discussed the extensive efforts underway by >>>

fire agencies to prevent, prepare for, and respond to wildfires year-round.

As we move into peak fire season, now is the time to create defensible space, harden your home, sign up for emergency alerts, and have an evacuation plan in place.

OCFA is on scene of a 15-acre vegetation fire in Rancho Mission Viejo Unincorporated. The fire has been named the #FordFire. Crews are attacking the fire from both the ground and air.

After mapping the fire with one of our drones, the final acreage was 11.9 acres. Crews will remain on scene, mopping up and monitoring the area.

The cause of the fire was determined to be an unintentional, unspecified event involving a UAV (drone).

Drowning is silent. It can happen in seconds.

🚁 Mountain Bike Rescue in Laguna Niguel 🚁

Today, OCFA crews responded to a remote incident after a mountain biker suffered a lower extremity injury on Itchy Sticks Trail in Laguna Niguel.

Firefighters, paramedics, Park Rangers, Laguna Beach Fire personnel, and Helicopter 4 >>

worked together to access, stabilize, and safely transport the patient to the hospital.

The incident highlights the teamwork and coordination between air resources, ground crews, neighboring agencies, and Park Rangers to provide care in challenging and remote terrain.

We have decided to postpone the remainder of this week’s prescribed burns at the Los Alamitos Base. The burns were planned to support ongoing vegetation management efforts and provide valuable training opportunities for our firefighters.

🚒 Quick Knockdown in San Clemente 🚒

This afternoon, Truck 59 arrived on scene to find a trailer fully engulfed in flames in San Clemente. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.

A big thank you to the multiple 911 callers who promptly reported the fire.

Memorial Day Rescue in Black Star Canyon

On Memorial Day, OCFA’s helicopter rescue team responded to reports of two hikers stranded on a steep rock face in Black Star Canyon.

Our helicopter rescue team inserted a rescue medic, who safely performed a hoist rescue and >>>

extracted both hikers from the cliffside. Fortunately, neither individual was injured.

As temperatures rise and more people head outdoors, remember to stay on designated trails, carry plenty of water, and know your route before you go.

A few weeks ago, #Academy63 recruits participated in Wildland Training in Gypsum Canyon, where they practiced essential skills such as progressive hose lays. Every training exercise brings them one step closer to graduation!

Congratulations to Firefighter Paramedic Paul Kozik on completing the demanding @CAL_FIRE Dozer Academy in Ione! He now begins the next step in the process —completing his Initial Attack Task Book to become a certified Heavy Fire Equipment Operator (HFEO).

Paul was proud to have the support of OCFA Assistant Chief Rob Capobianco, Division Chief Sean Lowry, Battalion Chief Matt Levesque, HFEO Alan Perrault, and Handcrew Firefighter Colby Christner at his graduation.

Yorba Linda- OCFA on scene of a structure fire on the 17900 Block of La Estrada. Fire knocked down in 15 min. Isolated to garage. 29 FFs from OCFA, Brea & Anaheim FD. Investigation underway. No injuries reported.

The Garden Grove incident is transitioning out of the emergency response phase. Beginning Friday, 5/29, at 8 a.m., the OC Health Care Agency, as the County’s Certified Unified Program Agency, will take the lead as the oversight authority for site cleanup and waste removal.
